Scope note: Especie de nematodo parásito que causa filariasis malaya y que tiene una distribución que se centra fundamentalmente en la península malaya. El ciclo vital de B. malayi es similar al de WUCHERERIA BRANCROFTI, excepto en que en la mayoría de las regiones los principales mosquitos vectores pertenecen al género Mansonia.

Scope note: A species of parasitic nematode causing Malayan filariasis and having a distribution centering roughly on the Malay peninsula. The life cycle of B. malayi is similar to that of WUCHERERIA BANCROFTI, except that in most areas the principal mosquito vectors belong to the genus Mansonia.
