Scope note:	Activación del complemento que comienza con la interacción de ANTÍGENOS microbianos con el COMPLEMENTO C3B. Cuando el FACTOR B DEL COMPLEMENTO se une a C3b unido a la membrana, el FACTOR D DEL COMPLEMENTO lo escinde para formar la C3 CONVERTASA alternativa (C3BBB) que, estabiliza por el FACTOR P DEL COMPLEMENTO es capaz de escindir múltiples C3 DEL COMPLEMENTO para formar la CONVERTASA C5 alternativa (C3BBB3B), lo que lleva a la escisión del COMPLEMENTO C5 y al ensamblaje del COMPLEJO DE ATAQUE A LA MEMBRANA DEL COMPLEMENTO.

Scope note:

Complement activation initiated by the interaction of microbial ANTIGENS with COMPLEMENT C3B. When COMPLEMENT FACTOR B binds to the membrane-bound C3b, COMPLEMENT FACTOR D cleaves it to form alternative C3 CONVERTASE (C3BBB) which, stabilized by COMPLEMENT FACTOR P, is able to cleave multiple COMPLEMENT C3 to form alternative C5 CONVERTASE (C3BBB3B) leading to cleavage of COMPLEMENT C5 and the assembly of COMPLEMENT MEMBRANE ATTACK COMPLEX.
