Nota de alcance: Única familia existente en el suborden Tylopoda (orden Artiodactyla). Entre los miembros existentes en la actualidad se incluyen especies domesticadas, DROMEDARIOS (con una joroba), CAMELLOS (con dos jorobas), LLAMAS, ALPACAS y camellos salvajes, VICUÑAS, y GUANACOS. Aunque obtienen nutrientes de las plantas mediante la rumia, evolucionaron por separado de los RUMIANTES; mientras que estos tienen un estómago con cuatro cámaras, los Camelidae poseen estómagos de tres cámaras.
