Nota de alcance: Tipo de fibras nerviosas que se definen según su estructura, específicamente según la organización de la envoltura del nervio. Los AXONES de las fibras nerviosas mielínicas están completamente encerrados en una VAINA DE MIELINA. Son fibras relativamente grandes con diámetros diversos. La CONDUCCIÓN NERVIOSA en ellas es más rápida que en las FIBRAS NERVIOSAS AMIELÍNICAS. Son mielínicas las fibras nerviosas presentes en los nervios somáticos y autónomos.

Nota de alcance: A class of nerve fibers as defined by their structure, specifically the nerve sheath arrangement. The AXONS of the myelinated nerve fibers are completely encased in a MYELIN SHEATH. They are fibers of relatively large and varied diameters. Their NEURAL CONDUCTION rates are faster than those of the unmyelinated nerve fibers (NERVE FIBERS, UNMYELINATED). Myelinated nerve fibers are present in somatic and autonomic nerves.
