Note d'application: Género de plantas de la familia Plantaginaceae. Las pequeñas plantas presentan un denso penacho basal de hojas, los tallos son largos, sin hojas, y terminan en una aguja de flores pequeñas. Las semillas, denominadas PSYLLIUM, se hinchan con el agua y se utilizan como laxante. Las hojas de estas plantas se han usado con fines medicinales.
