Coprenden casi todos los organismos multicelulares y muchos unicelulares y tradicionalmente se dividen en grupos (a veces denominados reinos) que incluyen los ANIMALES, PLANTAS, HONGOS y diversas ALGAS así como otros grupos taxonómicos que previamente fueron incluidos en el antiguo reino Protista.
