Scope note: Marsupiales de la familia Didelphidae. Los oposum son MAMÍFEROS omnívoros, fundamentalmente nocturnos y arbóreos, que crecen hasta alrededor de tres pies de longitud, incluyendo la cola escamosa prensil. Tienen un pelaje grueso grisáceo entremezclado con pelos blancos y una bolsa abdominal en la que llevan a la cría al nacer. (Webster, 3d ed)
