Scope note: Neoplasia maligna del tejido germinal de las gónadas, el mediastino o la región pineal, como los seminomas. El grado de diferenciación para formar tipos celulares adultos es variable. Los tumores de células germinales de los lactantes y los niños reflejan la transformación de las células primordiales que no han logrado emigrar a la zona debida. Los germinomas tienen apariencia uniforme, están formados por células redondas grandes con núcleos vesiculares y citoplasma eosinófilo claro o finamente granular.
