Scope note: Células granuladas que se encuentran en la mayoría de los tejidos, y muy abundantemente en la piel y el tracto gastrointestinal. Como los BASÓFILOS, los mastocitos contienten grandes cantidades de HISTAMINA y HEPARINA. Al contrario que los basófilos, los mastocitos permanecen en los tejidos y no circulan por la sangre. Derivan de células madre de la médula ósea, y están reguladas por el FACTOR DE CÉLULA MADRE.

Scope note: Granulated cells that are found in almost all tissues, most abundantly in the skin and the gastrointestinal tract. Like the BASOPHILS, mast cells contain large amounts of HISTAMINE and HEPARIN. Unlike basophils, mast cells normally remain in the tissues and do not circulate in the blood. Mast cells, derived from the bone marrow stem cells, are regulated by the STEM CELL FACTOR.
