Nota de alcance: Dispositivos auditivos electrónicos utilizados generalmente en pacientes con función normal del oído medio y externo, pero con función defectuosa del oído interno. En la CÓCLEA, las células ciliadas (CÉLULAS CILIADAS VESTIBULARES) pueden estar ausentes o dañadas pero existen fibras nerviosas residuales. El dispositivo estimula eléctricamente el NERVIO COCLEAR para crear una sensación sonora.

In the COCHLEA, the hair cells (HAIR CELLS, VESTIBULAR) may be absent or damaged but there are residual nerve fibers. The device electrically stimulates the COCHLEAR NERVE to create sound sensation.
