Nota de alcance: Tratamiento de la misma enfermedad en un paciente, con el mismo agente o procedimiento que se repite después del tratamiento inicial, o con una medida adicional o alternativa o seguimiento. No incluye el tratamiento que requiera la administración de más de un agente terapéutico o régimen. El retratamiento se utiliza con frecuencia con referencia a una modalidad diferente cuando el tratamiento original no fue adecuado, fue dañino, o no tuvo éxito.
