Nota de alcance: El esqueleto facial está constituido por los huesos situados entre la base del cráneo y la región mandibular. Mientras que algunos consideran que los huesos faciales comprenden a los huesos hioides (HUESO HIOIDES), palatino (PALADAR DURO), cigomático (MALAR), MANDÍBULA y MAXILAR, otros incluyen también los huesos lagrimal, nasal, la concha nasal inferior y el vómer pero excluyen al hueso hioides.
