Nota de alcance: Hormonas peptídicas producidas por NEURONAS de diversas regiones del HIPOTÁLAMO. Son segregadas a la circulación portal de la hipófisis donde estimulan o inhiben las funciones de la HIPÓFISIS. No se incluyen aquí la VASOPRESINA y la OXITOCINA que, aunque producidas en el hipotálamo, son transportadas vía los AXONES al LÓBULO POSTERIOR DE LA HIPÓFISIS antes de ser transportadas a la circulación portal.

They are released into the pituitary portal circulation to stimulate or inhibit PITUITARY GLAND functions. VASOPRESSIN and OXYTOCIN, though produced in the hypothalamus, are not included here for they are transported down the AXONS to the POSTERIOR LOBE OF PITUITARY before being released into the portal circulation.
