Note d'application: Neoplasia que se origina en las células del parénquima pineal que tiende a aumentar el volumen de la glándula y a ser localmente invasiva. Las dos formas principales son el pineocitoma y el pineoblastoma, que es el más maligno. Los pineocitomas tienen celularidad moderada y tienden a adoptar patrones en roseta. Los pineoblastomas son tumores muy celulares que contienen células pequeñas y poco diferenciadas. Estos tumores se localizan ocasionalmente en el neuroeje o producen HIDROCEFALIA obstructiva o síndrome de Parinaud. En la región pineal pueden surgir un GERMINOMA, CARCINOMA EMBRIONARIO, GLIOMA y otros tumores, siendo el germinoma el tumor de la región pineal más frecuente. Note d'application: Neoplasms which originate from pineal parenchymal cells that tend to enlarge the gland and be locally invasive. The two major forms are pineocytoma and the more malignant pineoblastoma. Pineocytomas have moderate cellularity and tend to form rosette patterns. Pineoblastomas are highly cellular tumors containing small, poorly differentiated cells. These tumors occasionally seed the neuroaxis or cause obstructive HYDROCEPHALUS or Parinaud's syndrome. GERMINOMA; CARCINOMA, EMBRYONAL; GLIOMA; and other neoplasms may arise in the pineal region with germinoma being the most common pineal region tumor.
