División toracolumbar del sistema nervioso autónomo. Las fibras simpáticas preganglionares tienen su origen en las neuronas del núcleo intermediolateral de la médula espinal, proyectándose hacia los ganglios paravertebrales y prevertebrales, desde los cuales, a su vez, se proyectan hacia los órganos diana. El sistema nervioso simpático interviene en la respuesta del organismo ante situaciones de estrés, es decir las reacciones de lucha o huida. A menudo actúa recíprocamente con el sistema parasimpático.

Note d'application:

The thoracolumbar division of the autonomic nervous system. Sympathetic preganglionic fibers originate in neurons of the intermediolateral column of the spinal cord and project to the paravertebral and prevertebral ganglia, which in turn project to target organs. The sympathetic nervous system mediates the body's response to stressful situations, i.e., the fight or flight reactions. It often acts reciprocally to the parasympathetic system.
