Note d'application: Metabolito fúngico aislado de cultivos de Aspergillus terreus. El compuesto es un potente agente anticolesterémico. Inhibe la 3-hidroxi-3-metilglutaril coenzima A reductasa (HIDROXIMETILGLUTARIL COA REDUCTASAS), que es la enzima limitante de la velocidad en la biosíntesis del colesterol. Estimula también la producción de receptores de las lipoproteínas de baja densidad del hígado.

Note d'application: A fungal metabolite isolated from cultures of Aspergillus terreus. The compound is a potent anticholesteremic agent. It inhibits 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HYDROXYMETHYLGLUTARYL COA REDUCTASES), which is the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. It also stimulates the production of low-density lipoprotein receptors in the liver.
