Note d'application: Enzima que cataliza la desaturación (aromatización) del anillo A de los andrógenos C19 y los convierte en estrógenos C18. En este proceso se elimina 19-metilo. Esta enzima está unida a la membrana, localizada en el retículo endoplasmático de las células productoras de estrógenos de los ovarios, la placenta, los testículos, el tejido adiposo y el cerebral. El gen CYP19 codifica la aromatasa, y funciona formando un complejo con la NADPH-FERRIHEMOPROTEÍNA REDUCTASA en el sistema del citocromo P-450.

Note d'application: An enzyme that catalyzes the desaturation (aromatization) of the ring A of C19 androgens and converts them to C18 estrogens. In this process, the 19-methyl is removed. This enzyme is membrane-bound, located in the endoplasmic reticulum of estrogen-producing cells of ovaries, placenta, testes, adipose, and brain tissues. Aromatase is encoded by the CYP19 gene, and functions in complex with NADPH-FERRIHEMOPROTEIN REDUCTASE in the cytochrome P-450 system.
