Afección causada por insuficiencia del cuerpo para disipar el calor en un ambiente excesivamente caliente o durante el EJERCICIO FÍSICO en un ambiente caliente. En contraste con el AGOTAMIENTO POR CALOR, la temperatura corporal del paciente con golpe de calor es peligrosamente elevada con piel caliente y roja, acompañado de DELIRIOS, CONVULSIONES, o COMA. Puede ser una urgencia por ser amenazante para la vida y es mas frecuente en lactantes y ancianos.

A condition caused by the failure of body to dissipate heat in an excessively hot environment or during PHYSICAL EXERTION in a hot environment. Contrast to HEAT EXHAUSTION, the body temperature in heat stroke patient is dangerously high with red, hot skin accompanied by DELUSIONS; CONVULSIONS; or COMA. It can be a life-threatening emergency and is most common in infants and the elderly.
