Note d'application: Factor de transcripción de la familia forkhead box que se expresa en el párpado en desarrollo y en las etapas tempranas del desarrollo gonadal, antes de la determinación del sexo. Es esencial para el desarrollo de los ovarios e inhibe el FACTOR DE TRANSCRIPCIÓN SOX9 para evitar la diferenciación a testículos. También induce la APOPTOSIS en las células ováricas. Las mutaciones en el gen FOXL2 se asocian a BLEFAROFIMOSIS, ptosis y epicanto inverso (BPES con insuficiencia ovárica).

Note d'application: A forkhead box transcription factor that is expressed in the developing eyelid and during very early development of the gonad, prior to sex determination. It is essential for development of the ovary and inhibits SOX9 TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR to prevent differentiation to testes. It also induces APOPTOSIS in ovarian cells. Mutations in the FOXL2 gene are associated with BLEPHAROPHIMOSIS; Ptosis, and Epicanthus inversus (BPES with ovarian failure).
