Nota de escopo: Infecciones del tejido no esquelético, es decir, excluidos los huesos, ligamentos, cartílagos y el tejido fibroso. El concepto se refiere en general a infecciones de la piel o de los tejidos blandos y suelen estar afectados el tejido subcutáneo y el muscular. Los factores predisponentes en las infecciones anaerobias son los traumatismos, la isquemia o las intervenciones quirúrgicas. Los microorganismos a menudo proceden de la flora fecal o bucal, particularmente en heridas asociadas a la cirugía intestinal, úlceras por decúbito y mordidas humanas. The predisposing factors in anaerobic infections are trauma, ischemia, and surgery.
