Nota de escopo: Proteína desglicasa que repara aminoácidos y proteínas glicosiladas con metilglioxal y glioxal, liberando la proteína reparada y lactato o glicolato. Desglicosila residuos de CISTEÍNA, ARGININA y LISINA reactivando las proteínas mediante la reversión de la glicación, previniendo la formación de PRODUCTOS FINALES DE GLICACIÓN AVANZADA. Las desglicasas protegen las células frente al ESTRÉS OXIDATIVO y la MUERTE CELULAR actuando como sensores del estrés oxidativo y como CHAPERONAS MOLECULARES sensibles al potencial redox y también como PROTEASAS. Las mutaciones del gen PARK7 se asocian a la ENFERMEDAD DE PARKINSON autosómica recesiva de comienzo temprano.

Nota de escopo: A protein deglycase that repairs methylglyoxal- and glyoxal-glycated amino acids and proteins, releasing repaired proteins and lactate or glycolate. It deglycates CYSTEINE, ARGININE and LYSINE residues to reactivate proteins by reversing glycation and prevent the formation of ADVANCED GLYCATION END PRODUCTS. It protects cells against OXIDATIVE STRESS and CELL DEATH by functioning as an oxidative stress sensor and redox-sensitive MOLECULAR CHAPERONE and PROTEASE. Mutations in the PARK7 gene are associated with autosomal-recessive, early-onset PARKINSON DISEASE.
