Scope note:	Tubo fibromuscular con forma de embudo que conduce el alimento hacia el ESÓFAGO, y el aire hacia la LARINGE y PULMONES. Se localiza posterior a la CAVIDAD NASAL y CAVIDAD ORAL, y se extiende desde la BASE CRANEAL hasta la laringe, donde se relaciona anteriormente con el CARTÍLAGO CRICOIDES y posteriormente con la sexta vértebra cervical, C6. Se divide en HIPOFARINGE (laringofaringe), OROFARINGE y NASOFARINGE.

Scope note:

A funnel-shaped fibromuscular tube that conducts food to the ESOPHAGUS, and air to the LARYNX and LUNGS. It is located posterior to the NASAL CAVITY; ORAL CAVITY; and LARYNX, and extends from the SKULL BASE to the inferior border of the CRICOID CARTILAGE anteriorly and to the inferior border of the C6 vertebra posteriorly. It is divided into the NASOPHARYNX; OROPHARYNX; and HYPOPHARYNX (laryngopharynx).
