Estos microorganismos se presentan aislados, en pares y en tétradas, dividiéndose de forma característica en más de un plano para formar grupos irregulares. Se encuentran poblaciones naturales de Staphylococcus en membranas de animales de sangre caliente. Algunas especies son patógenos oportunistas de los SERES HUMANOS y ANIMALES.
