Scope note: Par de pliegues mucosos elásticos, con forma cónica, que se proyectan desde la pared de la laringe y forman una hendidura estrecha entre ellos. Cada uno de ellos contiene un borde libre engrosado (ligamento vocal) que se extiende desde el CARTÍLAGO TIROIDES hasta el CARTÍLAGO ARITENOIDES, y un MÚSCULO VOCAL que acorta o relaja la cuerda vocal para controlar la emisión de sonidos.
