Scope note: Afección observada principalmente en la infancia, que se produce más comúnmente por exposición crónica a COMPUESTOS MERCURIALES, lo que puede producir ENCEFALOPATÍA y POLINEUROPATÍA. Las características clínicas compenden dolor, tumefacción y una coloración rosada de los dedos de las manos y de los pies, debilidad de las extremidades, extrema irritabilidad, HIPERESTESIA, y alteraciones del nivel de conciencia. Scope note: A condition seen primarily in childhood, most often resulting from chronic exposure to MERCURY COMPOUNDS which may result in encephalopathy and POLYNEUROPATHY. Clinical features include pain, swelling and pinkish discoloration of the fingers and toes, weakness in the extremities, extreme irritability, HYPERESTHESIA, and alterations in level of consciousness.
