Scope note: Pequeñas computadoras que usan chips microprocesadores LSI (de integración a gran escala) como la CPU (unidad procesadora central) y memorias de semiconductores para el almacenamiento compacto y económico de las instrucciones y los datos del programa. Son más pequeñas y menos caras que las minicomputadoras, y por lo general están construidas en un sistema separado en el que son optimizadas para una aplicación particular. El término 'microprocesador' puede referirse sólo a la CPU o a la microcomputadora completa.
