Scope note: Derivación venosa quirúrgica entre la circulación portal y sistémica para lograr un efecto de descompresión en la circulación portal. Se realiza principalmente en el tratamiento de las varices esofágicas sangrantes producidas por hipertensión portal. Entre los distintos tipos de derivaciones se encuentran la portocava, la esplenorrenal, la mesocava, la gástrica izquierda-cava (coronaria-cava), la portorrenal, la umbilicorrenal y la umbilicocava.
