Scope note: Líquido que protege y circula a través de los ventrículos cerebrales, espacio subaracnoideo y conducto del epéndimo. Está formado principalmente por las secreciones de los plexos coroideos de los ventrículos cerebrales. Los orificios del cuarto ventrículo permiten al líquido fluir hacia los espacios subaracnoideos que rodean al encéfalo y a la médula espinal. La obtención de muestras de líquido cefalorraquídeo (LCR) se puede realizar mediante punción lumbar entre la tercera y cuarta vértebras lumbares. (Diccionario Mosby. 5a ed.
