Scope note: Especie de BETARETROVIRUS aislado del carcinoma mamario de los monos rhesus. Parece que ha evolucionado de una recombinación del oncovirus murino B y un oncovirus C de los primates relacionado con el virus endógeno del babuino. Existen algunas cepas serológicamente distintas. El MPMV induce SIDA DE LOS SIMIOS.
