Scope note: Procedimiento para producir una impresión o imagen negativa de los dientes y/o de las áreas sin dientes. Las impresiones se realizan en material plástico el cual se endurece mientras que está en contacto con el tejido. Luego se rellenan con yeso mate o piedra artificial para producir un facsímil de las estructuras orales presentes. Las impresiones pueden hacerse de un complemento integral de dientes, de áreas donde algunos dientes han sido extraídos, o de una boca de la que se han extraído todos los dientes. Impressions are made in plastic material which becomes hardened or set while in contact with the tissue. They are later filled with plaster of Paris or artificial stone to produce a facsimile of the oral structures present.
