Scope note: Grupo de flagelados, principalmente EUCARIOTAS simbióticos, caracterizados por presentar doble simetría asociada con la presencia de un par de sistemas de organelos cariomastigontes. Poseen dos núcleos, que están unidos mediante fibras a los flagelos, y carecen de MITOCONDRIAS. En el pasado, las Diplomonadida se consideraron miembros de la clase Zoomastigophora, dentro del antiguo paradigma de los cinco reinos.
