Scope note: Es el componente purificado del DERIVADO DE LA HEMATOPORFIRINA, y está constituido por una mezcla de porfirinas oligoméricas. Se emplea en terapia fotodinámica (FOTORRADIACIÓN POR HEMATOPORFIRINA), para tratar lesiones malignas con luz visible y, experimentalmente, como agente antiviral. Se trata de la primera droga aprobada en Estados Unidos para TERAPIA FOTODINÁMICA.
