Scope note: Tumor glandular, generalmente benigno, constituido por células oxífilas, células grandes con un núcleo pequeño e irregular, y gránulos acidófilos densos debido a la presencia de abundantes MITOCONDRIAS. Las células oxífilas, también denominadas oncocitos, se encuentran en los oncocitomas de riñón, glándulas salivares y glándulas endocrinas. En la glándula tiroides, las células oxífilas se denominan células de Hurthle y células de Askanazy.

Scope note: A usually benign glandular tumor composed of oxyphil cells, large cells with small irregular nuclei and dense acidophilic granules due to the presence of abundant MITOCHONDRIA. Oxyphil cells, also known as oncocytes, are found in oncocytomas of the kidney, salivary glands, and endocrine glands. In the thyroid gland, oxyphil cells are known as Hurthle cells and Askanazy cells.
