Scope note: Afección caracterizada por un amplio rango de trastornos, desde la TENOSINOVITIS a la ruptura del tendón con o sin colapso de la parte posterior del pie que adquiere una deformación en PIE PLANO rígido. Los cambios patológicos pueden afectar a los tendones, ligamentos y estructuras articulares del TOBILLO asociadas y parte posterior y media del pie. La disfunción del tendón del tibial posterior es la causa más frecuente de deformidad en pie plano adquirida en el adulto.

Scope note: A condition characterized by a broad range of progressive disorders ranging from TENOSYNOVITIS to tendon rupture with or without hindfoot collapse to a fixed, rigid, FLATFOOT deformity. Pathologic changes can involve associated tendons, ligaments, joint structures of the ANKLE, hindfoot, and midfoot. Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction is the most common cause of acquired flatfoot deformity in adults.
