Los síntomas comprenden la re-experimentación del evento traumático, incremento del nivel de alerta y adormecimiento de la respuesta o disminución de la interacción con el mundo exterior. Los trastornos de estrés traumático pueden subclasificarse en función del tiempo de instauración y de la duración de los síntomas.
