Scope note: Muerte extensa y rápida de las células parenquimatosas del HÍGADO, con frecuencia debida a la exposición a sustancias tóxicas o a lesiones inducidas por fármacos. Se caracteriza por un aspecto blando y fláccido, color pardo amarillento y disminución del tamaño del hígado. Anteriormente se la denominaba "atrofia amarilla aguda".
