Scope note: La combustión o quema en el que sustancias se combinan químicamente con el oxígeno emitiendo luz brillante, calor y humo. (MeSH) Proceso químico de transformación de materiales combustibles e inflamables. Cuando el combustible es sólido, inicialmente se gasifica para combinarse con el oxígeno oxidante y activarse con una fuente de calor, lo que inicia una reacción química en cadena que genera más calor y alimenta la combustión.
