Scope note: Grupo de CORTICOESTEROIDES que afectan al metabolismo de los hidratos de carbono (GLUCONEOGÉNESIS, depósito de glucógeno hepático, elevación de la GLUCEMIA), inhiben la secreción de CORTICOTROPINA y tienen una notable actividad antiinflamatoria. También intervienen en el metabolismo lipídico y proteico, el mantenimiento de la presión arterial, la alteración de la respuesta del tejido conjuntivo a las heridas, la reducción del número de linfocitos circulantes y el funcionamiento del sistema nervioso central.

Scope note: A group of CORTICOSTEROIDS that affect carbohydrate metabolism (GLUCONEOGENESIS, liver glycogen deposition, elevation of BLOOD SUGAR), inhibit ADRENOCORTICOTROPIC HORMONE secretion, and possess pronounced anti-inflammatory activity. They also play a role in fat and protein metabolism, maintenance of arterial blood pressure, alteration of the connective tissue response to injury, reduction in the number of circulating lymphocytes, and functioning of the central nervous system.
