Scope note: Neoplasia benigna derivada del tejido conjuntivo, que consiste principalmente en células poliédricas y estrelladas enclavadas laxamente en una matriz blanda mucoide, por lo que parecen tejido mesenquimatoso primitivo. Se presenta con frecuencia dentro de los músculos, lo que a veces lleva a confundirlo con un sarcoma. También afecta al maxilar y a la piel. (Stedman, 25th ed)
