Note d'application: Proteína secretada, que contiene aproximadamente 131 aminoácidos, que está relacionda con la PROTEÍNA DE SEÑALIZACIÓN AGOUTI, y que también es un antagonista de la actividad del RECEPTOR DE MELACORTINA. Se expresa principalmente en el HIPOTÁLAMO y en las GLÁNDULAS SUPRARRENALES. Como molécula de señalización paracrina, la AGRP regula la ingesta de alimentos y el peso corporal. Su elevación esta asociada a la OBESIDAD.

Note d'application: A secreted protein of approximately 131 amino acids that is related to AGOUTI SIGNALING PROTEIN and is also an antagonist of MELANOCORTIN RECEPTOR activity. It is expressed primarily in the HYPOTHALAMUS and the ADRENAL GLAND. As a paracrine signaling molecule, AGRP is known to regulate food intake and body weight. Elevated AGRP has been associated with OBESITY.
