Scope note: Anomalía congénita caracterizada por la persistencia de la membrana anal, en la que aparece una membrana fina recubriendo el CONDUCTO ANAL. La imperforación no es siempre completa y se trata mediante cirugía en el lactante. Este defecto se asocia con frecuencia a DEFECTOS DEL TUBO NEURAL, RETRASO MENTAL y SÍNDROME DE DOWN.
