Scope note: Procedimiento organizado llevado a cabo por un comité selecto de profesionales para la evaluación del trabajo de otros profesionales con el fin de comprobar si cumple con los estándares de su especialidad. La revisión por iguales es utilizada por los directores de revistas para la evaluación de artículos y de otros trabajos remitidos para su publicación. También se utiliza la evaluación por iguales en la evaluación de las solicitudes de becas. Se aplica también para evaluar la calidad de la atención sanitaria proporcionada a los pacientes.
