Scope note: Inflamación de una vaina tendinosa. Entre sus causas se encuentra los traumatismos, el estrés del tendón, las enfermedades bacterianas (gonorrea, tuberculosis), la enfermedad reumática y la gota. Los sitios frecuentes son la cápsula del hombro, cápsula de la cadera, músculos de la pantorrilla y el tendón de Aquiles. Las vainas tendinosas se inflaman, son dolorosas, y acumulan líquido. La movilidad articular suele estar reducida. Se pueden oir (con un estetoscopio) o palpar ruidos de fricción con el movimiento . Puede haber depósitos de calcio en el tendón y en su vaina, que producen opacidades en las radiografías de las áreas afectadas. Scope note: Inflammation of the synovial lining of a tendon sheath. Causes include trauma, tendon stress, bacterial disease (gonorrhea, tuberculosis), rheumatic disease, and gout. Common sites are the hand, wrist, shoulder capsule, hip capsule, hamstring muscles, and Achilles tendon. The tendon sheaths become inflamed and painful, and accumulate fluid. Joint mobility is usually reduced.
