Scope note: Método para determinar el volumen de sangre circulante introduciendo una cantidad conocida de una sustancia extraña en la sangre y determinando su concentración unos minutos después, cuando se ha producido la mezcla homogénea. A partir de estos dos valores puede calcularse el volumen sanguíneo dividiendo la cantidad de material inyectado por su concentración en la sangre cuando la mezcla es uniforme. Generalmente se expresa en centímetros cúbicos o litros por kilogramo de peso corporal.
