Scope note: Género de tenias, constituido por varias especies, que se encuentran, en forma adulta, en pájaros y mamíferos. Las larvas o el estado cisticercoide se desarrolla en invertebrados. Pueden infectar al hombre, probablemente a través de la ingesta de carne, inadecuadamente cocinada, de animales infectados con la segunda etapa larvaria conocida como tetrahithridium.
