Descriptor English: Mink Cell Focus-Inducing Viruses
Entry term(s) virus MCF

RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D008908
Scope note: Strains of MURINE LEUKEMIA VIRUS discovered in 1976 by Hartley, Wolford, Old, and Rowe and so named because the viruses originally isolated had the capacity to transform cell foci in mink cell cultures. MCF viruses are generated by recombination with ecotropic murine leukemia viruses including AKR, Friend, Moloney, and Rauscher, causing ERYTHROLEUKEMIA and severe anemia in mice.
Annotation: infection: coordinate IM with RETROVIRIDAE INFECTIONS (IM) + TUMOR VIRUS INFECTIONS (IM); add also LEUKEMIA, EXPERIMENTAL (IM), or LEUKEMIA (IM) (for spontaneous leukemia), or ERYTHROLEUKEMIA (IM) if pertinent
