Scope note: Forma crónica de lupus eritematoso cutáneo (LUPUS ERITEMATOSO CUTÁNEO) en la que las lesiones de la piel recuerdan a las de la forma sistémica pero que ráramente presenta signos sistémicos. Se caracteriza por la presencia de placas discoides en la piel, donde se muestran grados variables de edema, eritema, escamas, taponamiento folicular, y atrofia de la piel. Las lesiones están rodeadas por un borde eritematoso elevado. Esta condición afecta típicamente a la cara y al cuero cabelludo, aunque puede diseminarse hacia otras áreas.

Scope note: A chronic form of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS, CUTANEOUS) in which the skin lesions mimic those of the systemic form but in which systemic signs are rare. It is characterized by the presence of discoid skin plaques showing varying degrees of edema, erythema, scaliness, follicular plugging, and skin atrophy. Lesions are surrounded by an elevated erythematous border. The condition typically involves the face and scalp, but widespread dissemination may occur.
