Scope note: Sondas de ADN específicas para los genes de los antígenos de leucocitos humanos, que constituyen los principales determinantes de la histocompatibilidad en humanos. Los cuatro locus conocidos se designan como A, B, C, y D. Los antígenos específicos se identifican por la notación de un locus y un número, por ejemplo HLA-A11. La herencia de ciertos alelos de HLA se asocia con el incremento del riesgo de desarrollo de ciertas enfermedades (por ejemplo, diabetes mellitus insulino-dependiente).
