Scope note: Proceso inflamatorio crónico transmural que puede afectar a qualquier parte del TUBO DIGESTIVO desde la BOCA hasta el ANO, principalmente el ILEON, CIEGO y COLON. En la enfermedad de Crohn, la inflamación, que se extiende al espesor de la pared intestinal desde la MUCOSA hasta la serosa, es característicamente asimétrica y segmentaria. En algunos casos se ven GRANULOMAS epitelioides.

Scope note: A chronic transmural inflammation that may involve any part of the DIGESTIVE TRACT from MOUTH to ANUS, mostly found in the ILEUM, the CECUM, and the COLON. In Crohn disease, the inflammation, extending through the intestinal wall from the MUCOSA to the serosa, is characteristically asymmetric and segmental. Epithelioid GRANULOMAS may be seen in some patients.
