También se incluyen los quistes no epiteliales (pseudoquistes) cuando afectan a los maxilares: quiste traumático solitario, cavidad ósea estática y quiste óseo aneurismático. Los quistes maxilartes verdaderos (de arcada superior o inferior) se clasifican como odontógenos o no odontógenos.
